Quilt Raffle 2026

Quilt Raffle 2026

A special quilt is once again being raffled this year, a benefit for the nonprofit Union Mills Homestead Foundation that operates the historic Union Mills Homestead. This year’s quilt is called “Bessie’s Pink.” The quilt measures 92 inches square and was donated by Homestead member Laurie Sieminski.

Laurie enjoyed a recent tour through the house when she heard that the pink on the home’s exterior was a favorite of Bessie Shriver Kemp’s. Laurie had this beautiful chintz print in her fabric collection, which seemed to be a fitting way to remember Bessie. The quilt is named in Bessie’s honor.

This is the third year that the Homestead has been able to offer a quilt that Laurie has made for us. We are very appreciative of her unique contributions to the Homestead’s fundraising efforts.

Quilted bedcovers were popular in earlier times when nothing went to waste and women recycled used fabrics into their patchwork designs. The quilting tradition is still going strong today, although more of a pleasurable pastime than a necessity.

Raffle tickets are $5 each or you can purchase 5 tickets for $20. Raffle tickets will be available in our gift shop and at our events this year. The drawing will be held at our Christkindlmarkt in November.

The Union Mills Homestead is proud to make this beautiful quilt available for a raffle this year. Get your tickets now!

Your support of the Union Mills Homestead Foundation is greatly appreciated!
