Noted History Scholar to Speak at Union Mills
Dr. Richard Bell, Professor of Early American History at the University of Maryland, will appear at the Union Mills Homestead on Sunday, October 11, 2026. Dr. Bell will be speaking about his new book, The American Revolution and the Fate of the World. Dr. Bell has reexamined America’s founding fight not just as a conflict between rebels and redcoats but as a global event that shook the world.
Dr. Bell is a noted historian and speaker who received his PhD from Harvard University and his BA from the University of Cambridge. His research interests focus on American history between 1750 and 1877. We are honored to have him appear at Union Mills as we continue our Semiquincentennial commemorations.
Dr. Bell’s appearance will be part of the Union Mills Homestead Foundation’s annual meeting, which kicks off on Sunday, October 11, at 11:30 a.m. in the Homestead’s Tannery at the historic site north of Westminster, MD. The event features a delicious pancake and sausage brunch, at a cost of $30 a person.
