Workshop -
This year we will showcase a Carroll County gem: the
Homestead's very own Shriver Grist Mill.
11:00 a.m. "From
The Mill To The Table" presented by Ivan Lufriu and
Dick Peeling
Tour the historic Shriver Grist Mill with Ivan, our
miller, as locally grown corn is ground into meal using
the carefully restored 1797 equipment. Join in a
discussion on the value of stone-ground whole grain
products, produced in an environmentally friendly, water
powered mill. Dick, chair of our always popular
pancake breakfasts, will use the freshly prepared meal
to demonstrate the blending of our product into batter
to produce delicious pancakes. Discover proper
preparation techniques, help man the grill, pour a hot
cup of coffee or tea, and enjoy silver dollar pancakes
hot off the griddle. And more -- select samples
from a buffet table of whole grain delicacies prepared
by Dick and several of our mill volunteers. Each
participant will receive recipes and a one pound bag of
Union Mills stone-ground product.
Cost $15.00 Register early; space is

have been trained to educate citizens about
effective horticultural practices and landscape
problem solving. They will be prepared to answer
your questions and provide a variety of gardening
information. Be sure to take advantage of their
horticultural expertise.
The
Children's Garden Corner will be a
"buzz" with activity. Members of the Roslyn Garden
Club have gathered supplies and are eager to guide
our future gardeners through a variety of hands-on
projects!
Back by popular demand:
